Mississippian Heartland Intergenerational Camp
(Residential camp for grandparents and grandchildren, ages 10-80) $500
Monday, June 19 – Friday, June 23

The Mississippian culture was the largest pre-Columbian civilization in North America before European explorers arrived.  Touch of Nature will serve as base camp as we explore earthen mound cities, a glacier-carved canyon with pictographs and petroglyphs, bluff top village sites, stone forts, museums and more.

Grandchildren and grandparents will share quality time learning the histories and mysteries of this fascinating culture while exploring the beauty and grandeur of Southern Illinois and the Shawnee National Forest. Some of the places you'll visit include Piney Creek Ravine, Millstone Bluff, the stone fort at Giant City State Park and a whole lot more.  A trip to Cahokia Mounds, a UNESCO World Heritage site, caps our week.

Touch of Nature will serve as base camp - 3,100 acres of the Shawnee National Forest nestled against scenic Little Grassy Lake.

Lodging at Little Grassy Lodge is included.  Check in begins Sunday, June 18 at noon.  Check out is Saturday, June 23 at 11 a.m.

16 meals are included.
