Georgia Loop Trail

March 10-18, 2018

This trip wil take participants to some of the most beautiful country in the South. On day one, veterans and service members will meet at SIU's Touch of Nature Environmental Center for introductions and gear issue. From there, we will load up and head to the Woody Gap Trailhead in northern Georgia. Once on the trail, participants will learn skills in backcountry living and travel. Each day allows for the opportunity for physical challenges, as well as time to reflect and relate upon past experiences. Expect to hike between 6 and 10 miles per day. The group carries all food and necessary supplies for the duration of the trip on their back. Participants shoud expect to be "unplugged" for the duration of the trip--no television, phones or other electronics. Participants should show up ready to commit their time and energy to their crew and expedition.

Cost: Free! Includes transportation, food, and most gear.

Who Can Participate: Post 9/11 veterans and current service members.
