Ocoee and Nantahala River Rafting
This trip will take participants down some of the most exciting whitewater in the nation. On day one, veterans and current service members will meet at SIU's Touch of Nature Environmental Center for introductions and gear issue. From there, we will load up and head to Ducktown, TN., where we will set-up camp for the night. After waking up and eating some breakfast, we will head to the Ocoee River for a guided whitewater rafting trip. After an exciting day of rafting, we will head over to North Carolina. There we will set up camp and sleep under the stars. In the morning we will hop on some inflatable kayaks for a self-guided trip down the Nantahala River. After navigating the class 2 rapids of the Nantahala, we will head back to camp, make some dinner, and hit the sack. The next morning we will wake up and head back to Carbondale, IL.
