Touch of Nature Environmental Center hosts experiential education programs that utilize the many natural resources on and around its 3,400 acres located in beautiful Southern Illinois.

These programs offer opportunities for all people and focus on traditional outdoor activities, environmental education, and adventure pursuits. Touch of Nature is dedicated to providing safe, fun, and inclusive programs that meet the educational, recreational and professional development needs of our customers.

 

SIU Touch of Nature Summer Camps and Retreats

Camps and Retreats

Touch of Nature Environmental Center offers a variety of exciting, educational, and adventurous summer camps. Our camps provide a great way to mix education, fun and an appreciation of the natural world around us. 

Touch of Nature CanoesOutdoor Education

Our Outdoor Education opportunities provide shared outdoor adventures and individual growth through experiential education and adventure-based learning. Our courses are designed to increase environmental awareness and appreciation and include programs for school groups, team building opportunities, and outdoor trainings and certifications.

Certifications, Trainings and Workshops

 Touch of Nature WorkshopsTouch of Nature offers trainings, workshops and certifications throughout the year. This includes several opportunities for outdoor professionals to receive certifications to add to their professional resumes and vitas. We also offer training for PreK-12 educators, with an emphasis on experiential education.

Veteran Adventures

paddle-instruction.jpgVeteran Adventures is a program designed to help ease the transition from military life to civilian life for veterans and current military personnel through powerful wilderness expeditions and events that draw on the healing benefit of adventure and challenge in the outdoors.

Voyageur Leadership Program

Programs Voyageurs

This program offers teens ages 13-16 opportunities to develop leadership skills and experience a host of outdoor adventures. Participants will have opportunities to expand comfort zones, learn new skills, and experience leadership roles during various activities, all while being mentored by Touch of Nature staff.
